Reflexology is a form of healing adapted from techniques used by the Egypytians, Russians and Eastern civilisations, who worked on the feet to promote health. It works on the energy flow in meridians and zones of the body.
Reflexology can be carried out on face, hands or feet; treatment is usually carried out on the foot, as, surprisingly, the foot is more sensitive than the other areas. There are thousands of nerve endings in the foot and stimulation of these can reduce stress, promote relaxation, improve circulation. balance energy levels and revitalise the body.
Reflexology helps the body gain homeostasis, which is its natural balance, and thereby promotes self-healing mechanisms. It does not aim to cure or to diagnose a medical condition but can be useful in facilitating healing.
